Kristina Norman nem ismeretlen a magyar közönség számára, ugyanis a Ludwig Múzeumban és a Magyar Nemzeti Galériában is szerepelt már csoportos kiállításon. Az Észt Hétre új programmal érkezik, amely a 2016-os Festive Spaces című filmjén alapul. Az Ünnepi terek című kiállítása egyfajta elmélkedés a különböző eszmék megjelenéséről és használatáról eltérő terekben, időbeli és ideológiai kontextusban. A kiállítás azt mutatja be, hogy a művészet milyen új jelentéseket és funkciókat érhet el, miközben felfedi a mai kor ellentmondásait is, párhuzamba állítva azt észt nemzetet az elmúlt században uraló önkényes hatalmi rendszerekkel.
„Festive spaces – Ideological art in time” is a first solo exhibition of Estonian artist and filmmaker Kristina Norman in Hungary. The show organized within the program of the Estonian Week in Hungary with a support of the Estonian Institute in Hungary.
Festive Spaces” is a contemplation on the production of ideological spaces and their use in different temporal and ideological contexts. Deconstructing the media scandal from 2014 it explores the ways art gains new meanings and functions, at the same time exposing the inconsistencies in today’s official historical narrative towards authoritarian regimes that ruled the Estonian nation during the last century.
